It is hard
to believe that the Central Connecticut Snow Snakes started with just 15
members almost 20 years ago. The group
immediately joined the Connecticut Ski Council (CSC) in November of 1986. For a number of years the group stayed
relatively small (about 35-50) but was very active in the CSC taking part in
the On Snow Carnival, Monday night racing and the annual Snow Ball. The club had a Council Queen and 2 runners up
in the first few years. Members of the
group served on CSC committees and even had a Council Secretary.
The group
participated in many of the former USRSA trips to western and Canadian resorts
but has also been quite successful in running their own club trips. For about 12 years the club has sponsored a

Along with
skiing, group members got together in the early years for summer recreation
like hiking, biking, camping and river rafting trips (maybe some new members
can resurrect that aspect of the group!).
Current
membership of the Snow Snakes is 660 members with 261 memberships. We have lots of families with and

We
encourage our members to participate in the group and this is required if you
want to take part in the bulk ticket program.
Suggested participation can be as extensive or simple as you’d like to
make it. We are always looking for new
officers of the club but if that’s not your thing there are other ways to help.
Arranging club meetings such getting a speaker to present a topic, assisting
with the newsletter and website, organizing refreshments, or participating in
the CSC are just a few ways to contribute to the overall success of the
group.
