Presidents Message:

By the time you get to read this, I will already have had a great time at the Ski Council Snow Ball.  With two bands planned and continuous dancing, I plan to be on the dance floor all night!  I hope everyone that comes has a great time.

We have some interesting things coming up at the November meeting, so read carefully.  It should be a good meeting with a lot to discuss, and learn.

Eric from the Alpine Haus in Wethersfield will talk about new equipment, etc. (at 8 PM)  He will also distribute Alpine Haus discount tickets for use during a week in December, so come out for the next meeting for the deals.

We will also be distributing pre-buy tickets (not all of the mountains have sent them to the council and will take a bit longer).   The tickets will not be distributed until Eric is done with his presentation.

Remember a great holiday gift.  Entertainment books will be on sale, so come buy one and get a return on your investment with one or two coupons.

I know of late the weather has been rather warm, but I hear that Jay Peak had snow and Steamboat, CO, is open (with natural and man-made snow), so fear not, our Ski Season is ramping up, same as our Club activities.

I have had many people step up to help, but we still need others to make this year the best yet!  I am looking for someone to chair the Holiday committee.  Chris Edelwich is taking care of booking the restaurant, but we need someone to take care of the fun stuff.  You do not have to dream up everything, but you just need to coordinate different people's ideas, and take some RSVP's to give Chris a count.  It is your party, if you want to have fun, plan it.  We also need an On Snow Coordinator - so give me a call to discuss it if you need more information. No co-ordinator, no racing, no dinner.

I want to apologize to everyone who came to the October meeting for the lack of a speaker.  Rich Cholewinski was coming to talk to us about the Council; he did venture out, from Branford but got lost on the way.  He sent me an e-mail apologizing.  Maybe later in the season he will be able to join us. I’ll be sure to get his cell number.

We also announced that next year will be the Club's 20th anniversary, and we are having a contest for a 20th anniversary commemorative logo to acknowledge this milestone.  Not only will be displaying the new logo in a special way (clothing, pins or both), we will be giving a prize for the logo chosen.  Stay tuned for details. The contest will be open to all members, kids included, ---- Artist anyone?

Well, there is a lot going on, and more items in the newsletter for information on the upcoming season, so read on!
