IMPORTANT NEWS & DATES

Return your unused pre-buy tickets at the April 19 meeting or they can be mailed to Christina Roder. They must be to her by April 26. If she does not get them, you will not be credited next year.

Reminder about rules for pre-buy tickets: We have had reports of people copying coupons and attempting to redeem them for tickets. ALL TICKETS AND COUPONS ARE NUMBERED, AND CAN BE TRACED BACK TO THEIR OWNERS. THIS WILL PUT THE WHOLE PROGRAM IN JEOPARDY, AND WILL GET YOU KICKED OUT OF THE CLUB YOU ARE IN, AND BARRED FROM JOINING ANY OTHER CLUB. Please follow the rules to preserve the program for everyone in the Council.

LOGO Contest - Winner will receive a $100 Gift Certificate to Alpine Haus and an article of clothing (TBD) with the new logo on it.

We are trying to make a decision about our (Snow Snakes only) Western Trip next year. We have suggestions so far of Taos, NM; Crested Butte, CO (they have a Club Med. – all food and drinks included); or Salt Lake City, UT. Please send your vote or any other suggestions to Bill Doster billd@dostar.necoxmail.com, or Lois Krause krausel@ripley-tools.com or pete912e@comcast.net . We need to make a decision by May so Bill can get the best prices for us.

Stops for bus for Jay Peak trip: 1st stop will be at the Fienemann Road (exit off of I-84) Commuter lot – leaving that lot at 6:00AM – please be there at least 15 minutes ahead of time, the 2nd stop is at the commuter lot at Buckland Rd. in Manchester behind John Harvard’s Restaurant – Leaving at 6:30 AM – please be there ahead of time, the last stop will be in Enfield CT at the commuter lot across from the Enfield Mall (off of Exit 48 on I-91) – Leaving at 7 AM – please be there ahead of time.

Newington Ski Club is having a bus trip on March 19 for the CSC day. Anyone from a club in the Council can go. Lift Ticket and bus for Adults is $55 total. Bus for Juniors is $15 (their lift ticket is less). There will also be a party at the mountain after skiing. Call Clyde at 860-604-7530 for more information or to book your place on the trip

Presidents Message:

First of all - Where has all the snow gone - Again????  The day we left for Steamboat, CO, you guys had two feet of snow plus, and when we got back, it was all gone.

Speaking of Steamboat, I think I can speak for all that came with us - it was a blast!!!  Yes, we had a few glitches because our trip coordinator was not in charge. Some of the things you take for granted were a bit messed up but Bill Doster was able to come to the rescue and mend the broken pieces. “Thank you Bill”, for all of your hard work and extra effort to fix what you did not break in the first place!  Great Job!

I would also like to thank everyone that had a hand in our Club Dinner on Thursday night at Steamboat. Pete and Bill for cooking, Sam, Joe, Stanley S., Richie, Stanley K., and Jon L. for offering their condo and homemade Kielbassa, Let’s not forget to mention their homemade 10 year old liquor. It really warmed the cockles of your heart (and everything else)! We all took pictures, so come to the March meeting to see the gang and the scenery!

Some of us raced, and some of us skied with Billy Kidd - many great memories and stories to tell - come hear all about it!

I would also like to thank Rick Paliuca for putting together a great meeting while I was away. I heard it was a lot of fun for those who came (but not too many of you did) - Wow - the Olympics and a ski/Boarding film - your loss if you missed it!

I also need to remind you artists out there, that our 20th Anniversary Logo contest is coming up very soon. We would like you to have the entries in to Sylvia Nolan by mid March. Look for her address elsewhere in the newsletter.

We will also have some information about the Jay Peak trip, so come on out and hear all the news!

A big THANK YOU goes out to Michelle and Steve Saulis for their coordination of the event for the Snow Snakes. I hope all had a great time - we usually do - sorry I had to miss it this year!

I also have to remind you to start thinking of whom you want to keep your club going in the years to come. (see 1/475th) April's meeting will be for nominations for club officers. Per our new bylaws, I will be stepping down, and we need to nominate a new President, Vice President, and Secretary. We have told Sam that his is Treasurer for life, but if there is someone you want to nominate, please do. I also think we need to get some new blood in the Council Rep positions. We need a total of 4 reps and one alternate.

Well, there is a lot going on, and more items in the newsletter for information on the rest of the season, so read on (it really is not over)!

THINK (AND PRAY FOR) SNOW!!!

CSC NEWS

From Mount Snow: The Connecticut Ski Council continues to be a very valuable partner, and we would like to thank you and your member clubs for a terrific season by offering a special additional weekend of bargain skiing!

For March 31st, April 1st and 2nd, which we're calling "Connecticut Ski Council Appreciation Weekend," CSC members can ski at Mount Snow each day for $25 per person! Yes, that means Saturday, too.

We will have random prize drawings each day exclusively for CSC members, and, if you're interested, we can offer a "Bring a Friend" option for members to introduce a friend to Mount Snow for $25.
