CCSS CLUB NEWS

Presidents Message:

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!  I hope everyone had a great Holiday season. This newsletter will be arriving a bit early because our editor has to go to China and is leaving a week earlier than this usually goes out. You will have to come to the January meeting on the 18th to get more Council news. We will be doing a ticket exchange, and I am trying to get a surprise guest, but I am not going to spoil the surprise (and it is not quite certain yet).

By the time you get to read this, Chris Edelwich will have your reservations for Holiday Party on Jan 6th.

Twenty of us went to Sugarloaf, ME for our annual week there. No matter what the weather, we had a great time!

For all of you who came to the December meeting, you were lucky to see a very informative presentation by Dr. Todd Mailly about altitude sickness. Todd is an esteemed member of our club, and although his speciality is Orthopedics, he did a great PowerPoint presentation describing the problems with altitude, and ways to prevent and/or treat it. Unfortunately, some people were then afraid to go on our trip to Steamboat, but no one backed out - YET!!!  Thank you, Todd for the wonderful, informative presentation - it made the meeting!

Barbara Amodio did a great job of turning our pre-buy tickets around in one night for distribution at the meeting. She is usually not the person that logs the numbers, but she did that this time because of the time crunch. I would like to thank Barbara for her hard work and dedication along with Marie Carparelli and Sam Rubin for going through the list when she found we had two fewer tickets than we needed. Marie and Sam had other lists, and were able to figure out where the discrepancy was - over the phone!  Christina Roder had the envelopes made out and mailed them to Barbara initially, so she did her part too, and Pam Cropley picked up the tickets at the Council meeting and dropped at Barbara's home. Great job everyone. It worked like a well-oiled machine!

Racing started, conditions are now in poor shape. We will see what weeks we will be able to participate - check the body of the newsletter for the phone number of Southington to call about racing availability.

The snow has been great for some of those CSC days, and I hope everyone took advantage of them!

Well, there is a lot going on, and more items in the newsletter for information on the upcoming season, so read on!

Think Snow!
