CCSS CLUB NEWS

Presidents Message:

Our January Holiday Party was lots of fun, even if it was not too well attended. It seems that we have had some problems with our newsletter getting to people via e-mail, so we are going back to the hard copy for a while. If you still wish to receive your newsletter via e-mail, please call or e-mail Russ Fisher to let him know of your preference. He sent out a request for your preferences, and only got 6 responses. If you would please look in your junk mail, you may have your acknowledgement about the newsletter there, as some of us have found ours there.

We are looking forward to our February meeting at the S. Windsor Community Center - come visit and share some skiing/boarding stories - I'll be there to tell you a few about Sugarloaf (we had a great time and the weather was wonderful)! Although we do not have a specific program planned for this month, we did have a very productive Executive Meeting and have made some decisions about the future of the club, so drop by and learn about those plans and decisions. For one thing, while we were at Sugarloaf, we received a set of K-2 skis from the mountain for booking early (thanks Marie Carparelli - our Sugarloaf coordinator). Come find out how we are going to determine who gets the skis!

While we were at Sugarloaf, Adam Fitzgerald was working towards his ASIA certification for Amature Ski/Boarding Instructors Association. Adam can now teach Boarding to our members (or others) and we applaud him for his efforts. He told me that it actually helped his own Boarding techniques as well. Why not come on out to the meeting and help us congratulate Adam for his efforts and certification! CONGRATULATIONS ADAM! You may want to think about taking the next course for ASIA certification in Boarding or Skiing ,,, you never know!

No one has volunteered to coordinate the On Snow Weekend, so people will not be able to race, take advantage of the other activities there, or go to the dinner. You can still ski/board at Bromley the first weekend of March, at discounted rates. Just come on up, and show your card with the Council sticker on it. You can buy discounted tickets at the ticket booths (only by the day, no multi-day discounts). You can also attend the party after the dinner at the lodge, but that will be about all for that weekend. I must admit, I will be on the Montana trip, and will not be able to attend, but if I had been home I would have wanted to race and go to the dinner. Maybe next year!

We also did not have a lot of participation for the day bus trip to Ascutney, so it was cancelled. We will make sure our plans are better publicized next time, and maybe we can all have fun!

Come on out to the meeting, and share some stories, and hear about our new plans for the future!

THINK SNOW!!!

Lois A. Krause, President CCSS.
