CCSS CLUB NEWS

Presidents Message:

By the time you get to read this, we will have seen our first snow.  Thanksgiving Day provided us with a blanket of fresh powder, but not nearly enough around here.  I know I got excited though, because it really makes me believe the ski season is here.

Eric, from Alpine Haus, was the scheduled speaker at our November meeting, but Dusty came in his place.  It seems that Eric had gone to Cancun, and was stuck in the hurricane.  He did not have a good time.  Dusty, who owns the Alpine Haus, was a great speaker and even hung around to speak with people individually.  He distributed coupons for all who came to the meeting giving Snow Snakes a 30% discount on all list price items in the whole store the week of Dec. 5-9.  He also tacked on a 1/2 price off on any ski/board tune for that week as well.  He informed us that usually, with your Central CT Snow Snakes Ski Card, you will get a 25% discount, but this one week, he will give us 30% off (with your card and coupon).  Take advantage of the deals and show the Alpine Haus our support, as they have done for us!

I also want to give everyone a heads-up that since our meeting this month is a week early, we only have one day to turn our pre-buy tickets around. We will pick them up at the Council meeting on the 13th.  Please be understanding, as there may be some extra paperwork when you come to pick them up.  For all tickets available but not picked up in November that will not be the case. Please understand that there is a bit of accounting, so be patient with our volunteers. They are all working very hard, and deserve our thanks for their efforts.

We also announced at the past meetings that next year is the CCSS's 20th anniversary.  We are having a contest for a 20th anniversary logo.  We want to put that on commemorative items to be offered later for sale.  There will be a prize for the winning logo.  The contest is open to all members (and the kids).  As explained in November, one person (Sylvia Nolan has volunteered to be the “Collection Administrator of the CCSS Artwork.”) will collect the entries and number them for the judges to review.  This way, judges can not be swayed by the person who sent in the design.  Entries should be done by hand and the logo can not be more that 8.5 X 11 inches, or smaller than 2.5 X 3 inches. Send entries to: CCSS c/o Sylvia Nolan, 209 Cottonwood Rd., Newington, CT 06111.  Entries postmarked no later than March 31, 2006 will be considered.  Be sure to have your name and address on the envelope but not on the submission.

Well, there is a lot going on, and more items in the newsletter for information on the upcoming season, so read on!
