We are trying to make a decision about our (Snow Snakes only) Western Trip next year. We have suggestions so far of Taos, NM; Crested Butte, CO (they have a Club Med. – all food and drinks included); or Salt Lake City, UT. Please send your vote or any other suggestions to Bill Doster billd@dostar.necoxmail.com, or Lois Krause krausel@ripley-tools.com or pete912e@comcast.net . We need to make a decision by May so Bill can get the best prices for us.

CCSS CLUB NEWS

Message from our President, Lois A. Krause:

Well, the season seems to be winding down.  Our bus trip to Jay Peak might be the last time on the slopes for many of us - if it was, and you have pre-buy ticket vouchers left - make sure you attend the April meeting (April 19 - 7:30 PM at South Windsor Community Center) to turn them in for credit. Remember, they have to be to Christina Roder by April 29 and/or post-marked by April 26 (if mailed).

Now, speaking of the Jay Peak trip, for all of you who missed it - we had a ball!!!  The accommodations were at the base of the mountain, so there was no traveling.  The breakfasts and dinners were included, so it was not only convenient, but the food was gourmet (and we got to order off the menu).  We "wiggled" down Angel's Wiggle and "jetted" down The Jet, just to mention a couple of great trails we all had fun on.  There were glades and moguls in addition to the groomed trails at all levels!  I'm glad we went when we did because it was getting warm, and some of the trails were loosing their cover - but it snowed while we were there - that is "Spring Skiing".  All in all, it was a great trip with a great bunch of people - those Snow Snakes sure do know how to have a great time!  Thanks to Mark Zaza and Bill Doster for the great coordination and great deals!

I have to get serious now and remind everyone to look elsewhere in the newsletter for descriptions of our open service opportunities for next year (VP - Rick Paliuca is writting it for you to review).  I also have to remind you to start thinking of who you want to keep your club going in the years to come.  April's meeting will be for nominations for club officers (and other ways to serve).  I want to thank Sylvia Nolan and Russ Fisher for running that 1/475th article last month.  It explained everyone does not have to do it alone, but we really need to have more people helping out.  At the time they were using the number of members at the beginning of this season, but as we close, it was brought to our attention that that number should have been 1/660th (counting the children/juniors).  With that many people, taking advantage of the "bennies", we should have more "stepping up" to help out!  Think about doing just a piece of a position - my Grandmother used to say, "Many hands make light work", and she was right!  Just think about doing a program, or just booking a program, or bringing some snacks for one meeting.  We will need some coordination for some summer outtings as well, THINK ABOUT IT - call me or any officer or Council rep. and participate!!

Well, take a look at the rest of the newsletter for more information about more items, and  come on out to the April meeting to participate and perhaps make suggestions to "make light work"!  At the very least you will see pictures of Jay Peak (and maybe some other trips this year), and hear great stories!

THINK  SNOW (or at least THINK SNOW SNAKES)!!!

Message from Bil Doster-Trip Chairman

To All The Participants of the Jay Peak Trip:

As Trip Chairman of the Snow Snakes, I want to thank everyone who took part in the Jay Peak Trip.  I also want to commend all the parents and young people who attended, on their behavior and skiing etiquette, it was tremendous.  I had several comments about how nice it was to see young people behaving and also their ski courtesy on the mountain was well noticed, thank you.

I also want to thank our co-coordinator for this trip Mark Zaza, who I think did a wonderful job contacting, collecting, and keeping all informed on this wonderful trip. As you all know anyone can be a trip co-coordinator on any of our trips that myself and the board have put together, to volunteer (we will give you assistance and direction) just contact Lois Krause or myself.  There are some benefits to volunteering, such as contributing your time to the club, usually a free stay if the number of participants reach a certain goal set by the mountains, etc.

In closing, if you had a good time please, tell your friends who are or are not in our club, what they are missing.  Our trips for next year will be voted on at our May meeting and we would appreciate your input.  Yes, we will be going back to Jay Peak next March, hopefully we can fill two buses.

Thanks to All,
